I like it a lot. Good flavor and not salty at all. I added rice cake and winter melon and sweet potato noodles. Will not add winter melon again
My family and I ordered their Signature (Non-Spicy) Chicken Pot, and added veggies, tofu, and other side dishes to it. The flavor was great, it wasn't overly salty or oily. The portion of the side dishes was a quit small. The chicken wasn't very tender and cooked, some parts were still kind of hard to bite/chew. The service was great, everybody was welcoming and helpful. They can get really busy during rush hours, so service level may vary. The store is a bit small, so it might be cramped once it gets crowded.
Food: specialty chicken pot as always, opted for rice cakes and some tofu skin, the flavor of the special sauce has been upgraded, while maintaining the taste, the sauce has been toned down to the perfect amount. Pairing with cucumber is always good to even out the spice and oil. Service: super busy as always, table was attended to fairly quickly, for how busy they are, their level of service is on point Ambiance: quite tight knit of a place, tables are close to each other, so very good for ease dropping, parking is a bit difficult, plan ahead
Went a second time and this place was not just as good but better! Visit if you have a chance!
Long overdue post. Postitive Cold beer that is competitive pricing Vibe of everybody drinks with their chicken stew Excellent Squid tentacles Homey Canto vibes To consider Cash only (maybe debit?) Can be long wait Food Not a fan of chicken stew
Found another place that does lobster sticky rice and it taste so much better than our usual spot in Vancouver! Only con is they don't have any stir fry dishes and does only chicken specialty soup pots, then finish off with hot pot soup in it. Owner was nice and showed us how to properly first drink and eat the food. Lol We ate rather late night to avoid the rush, so she had time to chat with us and even gave us a free milk tea. The kids didn't like the soup base we got as it had some Chinese herbs but they loved the sticky rice with lobster, it was flavorful and rice was soft filled with the lobster sauce. Dinner was around 200$ cad for our family of 4. We didn't order too much side dishes for our hot pot as we had the big lobster sticky rice.
Came here with my bf for dinner on a Saturday evening. You can choose between creating your own pot of food or you can pick one of their set pots. We picked one of their set pots because each item looked very pricey so it would cost us a lot more especially since wanted a lot of things. Signature (non-spicy) Chicken Pot: This came with chopped up pieces of chicken (bone in), bell peppers, shallots, potatoes, onions, napa cabbage and celery. This was was very delicious! The chicken wasn't over cooked and all the vegetables were fresh so they still had a nice crunch to them. The sauce that they used was very savory and tasty but we recommend getting rice with it because it became too salty as it sits in the pot. We chose not to get rice because it was very pricey at $2.20 per bowl but we realized we should of ordered one to share. The only thing we both didn't like about this meal was that they chopped up the chicken into pieces that there were very sharp bones sticking out so it was quite dangerous to eat. I end up having my cheeks slightly cut up. The pieces of the chicken were also very small so less meat. (4/5) Deep Fried Oysters: These were very delicious! The batter was so light and crispy. It reminded us of the fried taro dumplings at dim sum. The oysters were very huge, plump and meaty. It came with this soy vinegar dipping sauce which paired really nicely with the oysters because it was acidic and it helped cut the greasiness of the batter. It was a very nice experience to try it but we wouldn't get it too often because it was very pricey and you only get 4 pieces. (4.5/5) Overall, food was great and service was good too. Our server was so friendly and helpful. We will definitely be coming back!
Was looking for some chow after my foot reflexology, came across Mui Kee, place looks good, at least the hotpot is not swimming with the typical "ma-lak" chili oil. Staff were patient & helpful in explaining since this was our 1st time here. Settled for the non-spicy half chicken hotpot that comes with sweet potato noodles (aka glass noodles) & veggies (red & green peppers, sui choy), have it in soup, the chicken is mixed in a nice sauce with the noodles & veggies, chicken needs to be cooked further in the hotpot or else the inside is still raw. A good portion for 2, taste was yummy. We added deep fried tofu with the dish. An enjoyable meal.
Came here for dinner and ordered both their famous chicken pot and their fish pot. Both were very flavorful and a fun experience! You can customize the chicken and fish pots by choosing the level of spicyness and numbness. The chicken pot comes with rice or noodles but you can also choose additional toppings like meat/fishballs and other vegetables. Highly recommend the beef balls as they are handmade by the owners and is super tender! The portion sizes are good, we ordered one chicken and one fish pot for 4 people, and were unable to finish all the food. In summary, great place for large groups or if you want a good dinner on Alexandra!
After a disappointing 45-minute wait and unfriendly front-of-house service at Sea Harbor, we wandered around looking for Christmas lunch options. Wife and parents were getting hangry! We originally targeted G-Men Ramen, but silly us - normally only Chinese restaurants are open on Christmas. We randomly chose Mui Kee which apparently had a reopening (they did not yet exist on Yelp). Its mostly a casual restaurant offering both Chinese and Malay noodle and rice plates. We actually had a decent meal here and service was really friendly, so 4 stars! Highlights: 1. Besides tea, they have some interesting drinks that are like a warm smoothie. The Red Bean Goji Drink came in a big beer mug and was pretty good - not too sweet yet probably healthy as Goji berries are known for healthy vision. 2. The chicken fried rice had decent wok breath but was a bit too sweet from the soy sauce - sort of like Hawaiian-style. 3. Beef Chow Fun was oily but had good wok breath and really tender slices of beef. 4. Crispy seafood noodles were one of the better dishes. Its common to add fish filets and shrimp with bok choy. We we pleasantly surprised to see baby octopus and cooked mussels too. I did not particularly care for the imitation crab meat though. 5. Service was friendly and attentive, and in the end they comped us a free egg waffle dessert - so crispy, soft, and sweet at the same time. 6. They have free wifi - its the 10-digit phone number listed on the menu. Lunch and drinks for four including tax was 44 CAD - not bad at all!
